The original form may have been syncopic *valta (compare Erzya валдо (valdo), Moksha валда (valda)); this form is found in Livonian. If the syncopic form is primary, it is possible that the loss was a case of consonant cluster simplification (*valkëda > **valk-ta > *valta), and *valëda represents a later analogical adaptation to conform with the other *-ëda adjectives.",
